United Way of Colchester County is run locally and governed by a volunteer board of directors. These passionate volunteers are the decision makers for the United Way’s direction, future plans and, most importantly, how donor’s gifts are invested back into the community.
Board members are integral to the success of the mission of United Way. They are expected to and accountable for promoting and advancing the mission of United Way. The Board’s impact on our mission is far-reaching; from fiduciary oversight to strategic development, to resource growth and relationship building.
The Board members provides oversight and due diligence of financial and operational matters; the Board is the foundation of trust for stakeholders and constituents and the community at-large. To ensure effective governance, Board members are asked to serve on at least one committee that handles operational matters. Committee opportunities include:
- Our Community Investment Committee is another group of dedicated volunteers that review grant and program applications to make recommendations to the Board on how we should invest in Colchester County.
- The Campaign Team is a dynamic group of volunteers that bring in donations during our annual campaign to allow us to create opportunities in our community.
All of our volunteers are a broad mixture of community members- from business professionals to students all committed to improving our community. Interested in volunteering with United Way? Call us at 902 895-9313 or fill out a volunteer application /volunteering/volunteer-at-united-way/
