United Way Maritimes, in partnership with the River Philip Foundation, The Shaw Group, the Government of Canada, the Province of Nova Scotia and the Town of Amherst were pleased to officially announce The Groves at Hillsdale today.
The Groves is made up of 47 homes, and is a mixed of affordable homeownership and affordable rentals. Using a shared-investment model, United Way Maritimes retains ownership of a portion of each home, meaning the homeowner requires no downpayment and has an affordable mortgage, allowing households with a steady income to own a home, build equity, and build a stronger future.
These homes will remain sustainably affordable for many years to come, offering generational impacts. The Groves is the third project of United Way Maritimes’ affordable housing division.
Included in the announcement were Alana Hirtle, the member of parliament for Colchester-Cumberland, The Honorable John White, Minister of Housing for the province of Nova Scotia, Floyd Dykeman, Manager for the River Philip Foundation, and Deborah Page, VP of Marketing, Communications & Public Policy for United Way Maritimes, and Sarah Flemming, Rural Affordable Housing Advisor for United Way Maritimes.
