Through Community Impact Grants, the United Way of Colchester helps local agencies across the County enhance their services within our key focus areas of Helping Kids Be All They Can Be, Moving People from Poverty to Possibility, and Supporting Healthy People and Strong Communities. During 2018—2019, Impact Grants provided tangible assets for these projects:
Archway Counselling Association Computer Upgrades improve efficiency in the delivery of various programs and services, thereby providing both families, youth, and visitors with better service and access to online program support
Lotus Centre Environmental Upgrades provide a welcoming, accessible area for clients and visitors, in keeping with environmental considerations
Colchester Sexual Assault Centre Building and Supporting Healthier Communities provides clients with relevant books and resource material to better support them on their wellness journey
Colchester Food Bank Technology Improvements and Office Safe new laptops will improve day-to-day efficiency and reporting, while a new safe will safeguard donations and gift cards until bank deposits are made
John Howard Society Office Printer Upgrade allows staff and volunteers to print in-house, increasing efficiency and lowering operating costs
Maggie’s Place Family Resource Centre Fencing Project provides a new, secure fenced-in area for children and their caregivers, where they can play, learn and have fun in a safe outdoor environment
Scotia Pool Society New Pool Toys provide children from diverse backgrounds the opportunity to play and have fun while learning new skills and getting lots of physical activity during swimming lessons and summer swim camps
Truro Homeless Outreach Society Outdoor Security System & Office Equipment provides a safer outdoor environment for staff, volunteers, and guests of Hub House; office efficiency is improved with a printer for in-house and cost-effective printing, as well as a private shredder for the disposal of sensitive information
Victoria Order of Nurses Portable Keyboard allows counselors to share the therapeutic benefits and sheer joy of music with clients of three Adult Day Programs, which includes over 50 individuals aged 20 to late ’80s.
